THE STANDARD FOR STANDARDS
Standards Core is an AI-Native startup delivering intelligent applications for Codes, Standards, and Specifications.
Standards Core is an AI-Native startup delivering intelligent applications for Codes, Standards, and Specifications.
We are targeting AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), Oil & Gas, Renewables, Water/Wastewater, Transportation, Building Codes, and other industries that depend on structured legal documents, as well as all such markets and documents in different languages and other countries and jurisdictions.
Our technology is based on the Microsoft Azure Intelligent App Roadmap, including .NET, ASP.NET, ML.NET, Microsoft 365 Copilot with our forthcoming custom Copilot, Microservices, Azure AI services, Azure Databricks, Azure Applications, and Azure Functions.
Our business model is to host a public-facing subscription service that is based on publicly available data while offering organizations the option to buy or lease the entire application to operate over their proprietary data, as well as an Office 365 Add-In for Word and Excel that connects to our custom AI Copilot.
In and around 2010 I was awarded two patents for essentially “inventing” the concept of “Specification Automation” (https://patents.google.com/patent/US8849873B2/en, https://patents.google.com/patent/US9146913B2/en), and created and proposed a spec-specific file format called “SPECX”. The file format did not see much adoption unfortunately (the defacto file formats for specs remain “DOCX” and “PDF”), but I am quite certain that many of my ideas made it into several (at least three, maybe more) major software vendors in the AEC space.
This is also my third startup. My first startup created the product “SpecWave”, which was acquired by Bentley Systems. My second startup was to create a similar web-based application, sponsored by a large investment offer from a global architecture company – which unfortunately stalled-out due to legal/contractual issues. At this point I thought that I would be done with all that and focused on becoming the best general software developer and consultant that I can be, with great results and accolades from several clients – and I figured that this is what I will be doing for the rest of my career.
I am now realizing that much of that standards modeling ideology remains un-realized, and frankly, I think that most of it, 15 years ago, was a vision before its time – now it’s time! What could be a better application of AI than to support safety and reliability of critical assets?
Please reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, want to get involved, or best of all, become an early adopter and customer.
